With three podiums in four GT World Challenge races to start the season, Sedgwick looks for that breakthrough win at Sebring

MILLVILLE, NJ (May 12, 2025) – PT Autosport’s Alex Sedgwick has impressed out of the box in his rookie GT World Challenge Presented by AWS season. The 26-year-old Warwickshire, UK native looks to continue that trend in two races this weekend at Sebring International Raceway as he aims for his first series victory.

Sharing the wheel of the No. 18 RS1/Race Brew by Momentum Brewery/PT Autosport/Porsche Naples Porsche 911 GT3 R with Porsche veteran Jan Heylen, Sedgwick led the field in his second ever GT World Challenge race at Sonoma. With his first pit stops and driver changes behind him, he looks to capture that first series victory in the extremely competitive Pro class.

“Coming out of those first two weekends, I feel as though I’ve done a good job of adapting to the new procedures and processes,” said Sedgwick, who moved up to the series after two seasons in Porsche Carrera Cup North America. “The races are 90 minutes, so a stint is effectively a Carrera Cup race, so I’m used to that. Now it’s more about managing the two sides of the races – each driver stint – and working together as a team to make things happen. On the driving side, it’s about understanding what the car needs, and continuing to learn and develop.”

A former World War II air base, Sebring is famous (some would say infamous) for its track surface, with the bumps having their own hashtag (#RespectTheBumps). With two top five finishes in four Carrera Cup races, Sedgwick feels ready for the challenge.

“Obviously, the bumps get the most attention when you’re talking about Sebring, and rightly so,” said Sedgwick. “Managing setup with the bumps in mind involves a bit of compromising between everything the track throws at you: there are reasonably high-speed areas that require big commitment, while the really bumpy turns like 1 and 17 require more precision. But there are a few technical sections where you need to have a car that’s really good at direction change and low speed corners, so finding that balance across the entire track, with an eye toward where you really want to be good, will be key.”

Sedgwick made his Porsche Carrera Cup North America, earning a top 10 finish with limited experience in the car. Now, with experience and momentum on his side, PT Autosport team principal Jason Myers looks forward to seeing what Sedgwick can do on the 17-turn, 3.741-mile asphalt and concrete racetrack.

“Alex has been quick here in a Cup Car and I think the further refinements of the GT3 R will make him that much quicker,” said Myers. “His driving continues to improve and I’m confident he’s going to continue to impress everyone who is watching.”

The GT World Challenge America series will contest two 90-minute races at Sebring. Race one takes the green flag Saturday at 3:00 p.m. ET, with race two at 1:45 p.m. The races will be streamed live on YouTube, with an interactive broadcast on Twitch.
